Accepting

By James Ross

I faulter in the acceptance of God in many ways and find myself questioning the events and disasters across the world. How, with all the might and glory that God posses do these things, floods, tornado's terrorist attacks and so on take place in a life that is blessed by the all mighty exist?

I often turn to my fiance in Jane, a god fearing person who is gradually teaching me the acceptance of God and Jesus Christ and ask her, How can there be a god if all these things happen, And she answers me in a way that I can't explain, all I can say though is that through her wisdom she gives me hope and acceptance that God is not responsible and that everyday we face the test of time.

I cant remember now why, but Jane and I were discussing something that had happened whilst chatting on Yahoo, Jane lives in the Philippines and I in Australia. So we communicate daily on line. And, she pasted a site for me to look at that sent me to Preacher In Blue Jeans.

I listened carefully to Bo and I found comfort in his words, I found a man that could share his word that did not make me feel bashed. He did not Ram it down my throat, he spoke with scincerity and he got my attention. So now, with Jane helping me with out her ever trying to do so and listening from time to time to Bo speak I am slowly finding comfort in Accepting God.

Jane once said to me, after I had questioned her on some of the contrevarsy's of the Catholic Church that to her the church was  a place of Worship, and that her relationship with God was a personal thing between her and God alone and i will never forget that, it made good sense to me and is something I hope to accept into my life.

I study Jane closely when I visit her in the Manila. And I am so in love with the love that Jane has for others. I remember on my first visit to Manila that Jane asked me. What do I think of the Philippines? and it was my first time there and I had never seen anything like the poverty that excists there and I answered her, that I hated it. That I hated what I was seeing. Tears flowed down her face as she replied to me, but James, these are my people and I am one of them. She went on to say that she was blessed and that she was one of the lucky ones. I had offended her and it was not my intention, what I meant was that I did not like what I seen there with the kids going hungry and people living on the streets. I wanted to save them all but I was powerless to do so. And that was what I hated so much, that i could not do anything and if there is a God, where is he now for these people.
It is almost two years now since that first visit and I have learnt so much more, he lives in people like Jane and others like her.
He live in me.

What we should believe as Catholics

By Vir Chicano

What we should believe as Catholics!

This page was designed to help folks understand their Catholic faith better. It is also here to help those who are considering the "one true faith".

UNDER CONSTRUCTION TODAY!

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell: on the third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almight; from thensce He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the HOly Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. AMEN

THE IMPORTANCE OF HOLY WATER
Holy water is a sacramental that remits venial sin. Because of the blessing attached to it, Holy Church strongly urges its use upon her children, especially when dangers threaten, such as fire, storms, sickness and other calamities. Every Catholic home always should have in it a supply of holy water. We do not take advantage of the benefits derived from holy water.

LET US CULTIVATE ITS USE
. Untold spiritual wealth is concentrated in a tiny drop of blessed water. And we give it so little thought! Did we realize now, as we shall realize after death, the many benefits which may be derived from holy water, we would use it far more frequently, and with greater faith and reverence. Holy Water has its great power and efficacy from the prayers of the Church, which its Divine Founder always accepts with complacency.

FOLLOWING ARE SOME OF THE PETITIONS THE PRIEST MAKES TO GOD WHEN HE BLESSES WATER. “O God, grant that this creature of Thine (water) may be endowed with divine grace to drive away devils and to cast out diseases, that whatever in the houses or possessions of the faithful may be sprinkled by this water, may be freed from everything unclean, and delivered from what is hurtful...Let everything that threatens the safety or peace of the dwellers therein be banished by the sprinkling of this water; so that the health which they seek by calling upon Thy Holy Name may be guarded from all assault.”

PRAYERS EFFECTIVE: These prayers ascend to heaven each time you take holy water and sprinkle a drop either for yourself or for another, whether he be present or absent; and God’s blessings descend for soul and body.

DISPEL THE DEVIL: The devil hates holy water because of its power over him. He cannot long abide in a place or near a person that is often sprinkled with this blessed water.

DO YOUR DEAR ONES LIVE AT A DISTANCE? Holy water, sprinkled with faith and piety, can move the Sacred Heart to bless your loved ones and protect them from all harm of soul and body, when worry and fear take possession of your heart, hasten to your holy water font, and give your dear ones the benefit of the Church’s prayers.

THE HOLY SOULS LONG FOR IT: Only in Purgatory can one understand how ardently a poor soul longs for holy water. If we desire to make a host of intercessors for ourselves, let us try to realize now some of their yearnings, and never forget them at the holy water font. The holy souls nearest to Heaven may need the sprinkling of only one drop to relieve their pining souls.

REMITS VENIAL SINS: Because Holy Water is one of the Church’s sacramentals, it remits venial sin. Keep your soul beautifully pure in God’s sight by making the Sign of the Cross carefully saying, “By this holy water and by thy Precious Blood wash away all my sins, O Lord.”

Use Holy Water as follows: Dip your fingers in Holy Water and say, “BY THIS HOLY WATER AND BY THY PRECIOUS BLOOD, WASH AWAY ALL MY SINS, O LORD.” Sprinkle Holy Water on Holy Souls in Purgatory, then make the sign of the cross.
Imprimatur: Albert G. Meyer, Archbishop of Milwaukee, Jan. 13, 1958

Who is Worthy?

By Reden Cerrer
I was on my way to Better Living, Paranaque to give a talk to Mary Help of Christians charistmatic community.  It was the first talk given to me after I have asked the Lord to bring me back to the ministry.

The thing is, an hour prior, I got into not-so-amiable verbal fisticuffs with a dear friend, and I had, in my frustration and consternation, have inflicted much em0tional damage towards her, and in turn, on myself.

While on the taxi, I felt the most unworthy feeling of someone who is about to impart the Word of God to his people.  And I began to pray---for forgiveness, for peace, for reconciliation.  There was nothing I could do at the time except to ask for God's mercy and love to wash my iniquities brought about my humanity.

When I got to the venue it was just time for worship and at the back of a dimmed room where the only light shone was at the altar, I continued to pray silently and offered myself to the Lord, for his infinite grace to work through me.

After the worship my name was called, and as I took the microphone, there was like a switch that was turned on and I preached to the community like it was my last time to preach!  God was working his miracle through me!  Imagine that!  A most unworthy servant, becoming the conduit of God's love!  The members of MHC were laughing and learning and being blessed as I went through my talk.  I could not believe it.

God brought out the best in me.

The morning after my talk, I reconciled with my friend, and she took my forgiveness.

I asked myself, was I worthy?  Certainly not.  But God chose me to serve His people at that time, and regardless of my nature as a flawed individual, that night, he made me His champion.

Praise God!
