:: The Doubting Ria ::

          During my board exam review almost two years ago, when our reviewer is having a lecture about a ‘nose-bleeding topic’ if I may say, he perceived us, the reviewees, had a hard time grasping the concepts because we’re all exhausted already and with the look in our eyes, he knew we were indeed tired. True, my mind is not functioning efficiently that time because of the overwhelming concepts! So, he shared with us a verse in the bible and said, “Sa James 1:5 YATA. Whenever you find yourself confused or unable to understand things,(our lessons specifically)…Humingi kayo ng Karunungan sa Langit at ito’y ibibigay sa inyo.” (Ask wisdom from heaven and you’ll be given it.) And yes, we’re kinda in an evangelization at times. I appreciate people who encourage others in any way they can. What I did, I write down that verse and tell myself that I’ll check this verse once I get back home. I doubted for that verse because during our previous lecture, he said that Psalm 25 is the Chapter for 'The Lord is my Shepherd', we immediately corrected him and said, “Sir, it’s Psalm 23.”(This time, I’ll double check to be sure.) We’re not sure if he’s just kidding us because it seems that he really reads the Bible.

          Now, this is the highlight of that day: Before I went home, I decided to hear mass just near our house. I almost forgot the mission to discover about that James 1:5 thing. When I finally entered the church, there’s these two bowls with pieces of papers inside them that I noticed, one bowl contains the ‘Tagalog bible verses’ and the other one, ‘English bible verses’ that I customarily picked from whenever I go to that church. I decided to pick on the bowl with English verses (because the color of the papers are blue, my favorite!) I told myself while I was picking, “Sobrang, super, major co-incidence naman kung James 1:5 ang mabunot ko, ‘no?” I took a piece and on my way to the pew, I slowly opened it and WHAM! I was surprised to have seen this before my eyes, it read: "But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it…- JAMES 1:5" I looked at the tabernacle and said, “Lord, ambilis N’yo naman po. Di pa ako nakakauwi may sagot na. Digital ka na po talaga sa bilis!” I held on that piece of paper the entire mass then one MBG lady approached me and asked me if it’s okay for me to offer the candle in the altar during the offertory. I did not refuse to accept the invitation ‘because I had no reason to reject’, it’s an addendum blessing for me!! Honestly, I hadn’t able to focus in the entire mass because I was really surprised, startled and amazed with what God had revealed to me. I am just very, very happy!

         I felt in that instance God told me, “Hey, child, it seems the exact location of the verse is more important to you than the content and substance of MY message for you…Pwes…” The exact location of a certain verse or anything is important because we might get misled by that but then again, it is not the most important thing. I’ve realized that it is not bad to doubt but it is better to believe. It is good to be sure but it is best to trust.

          I carried a smile on my face on my way home… God indeed speaks to us by all means. God knows best and He really watches us from a distance. Actually, the answers to our questions aren’t far from us to search for them. They are so near to us, all we need to do is to just carry them out!

           This is an experience that I’ll always dwell on and I'll always be thankful for. ;)

           So there, I just knew in my heart that I have to share this experience...
